Cincinnati Lacrosse Academy Newsletter : Week 4

The first stretch of sessions were great - for personal and training evolution. As a team we have seen impactful areas of improvement for player experience and look forward to this weekend.
This Bernard Shaw quote speaks well to this journey we are as a community:
“People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for their circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, MAKE THEM.”
My brother and I were blessed to grow up playing for passionate coaches. With Milford, Loveland, Jr. Crusaders, and Summit all of our coaches were on a mission to grow the game of lacrosse. John McGeeney taught us the fire and toughness it took to compete in the sport - Michael Cotsonas shared his love for the game and Pat Collura assisted in deepening our appreciation for the history of lacrosse in Cincinnati. However, when we wanted to take our game to the next level we had to journey to Columbus, which was to prepare to drive out to the East Coast in order to compete in top level events.
Circumstance: Our dreams of playing ACC lacrosse for a top team in the country was impractical coming from Cincinnati. Past success was an outlier, not the product of structural development, but individual effort.
The sport in Southern Ohio has grown in amazing ways, local coaches have been critical to continue to give players awesome programs to play for. However, we feel Cincinnati is missing elite training that can change a players trajectory and make them aware of the work that is necessary in order to achieve in the sport.
This is our mission we are on as a community. To set up the structure. Create the community, and ultimately, raise the standard so that top tier players are not an outlier but a product of playing in the area.
Looking forward to this weekend. All sessions are offered.
