I was a Sophmore in High School when I heard this lesson for the first time. Sitting in a “financial literacy” class, the words ‘time value of money” were uttered, this was a new concept - but one I would not forget.
“The time value of money (TVM) is the concept that a sum of money is worth more now than the same sum will be at a future date due to its earnings potential in the interim.”
The teacher was making a valiant effort to stress the importance of making small investments now versus waiting until you deem a sum ‘worthy.’ Similar to everyone else in the class I was taken back by this shift in perspective, but did I do anything?
‘I will get to that investing stuff when my life is less stressful.
When I have more time.
School is overwhelming enough as it is.’
However, one day on the wall I let this concept be my lens for thought, and it made so much sense. Do not wait until you have ‘enough time to REALLY shoot,’ or ‘my body will feel better if I wait and I'll get more out of it.” Go invest in your skills NOW.
Wall ball, shooting, footwork, and other aspects of training are all led by the same principles. No matter how small, if you can continually invest in your skills every day, after a couple weeks / months, you will see the significant nature of this commitment.
Similar to my teacher, I want to embolden you to take up this paradigm. Your edge can be made purely off of little things daily. FIVE pushups every time you walk into your room is more than if you did ZERO. Some discouragement or skepticism will be 'I can just wait until I have 20 minutes free and do 50 -100 pushups.’ Well you may not always have that time, but you will surely be walking into your room and navigating your house, so commit to the small investments.

This is what I call the Time Value of Personal Investments.
(TVPM) is the concept that any additional effort put towards a dream now,
is worth more than if you made the same investment in the future.
Training this October (Begins October 2nd) will be so beneficial if you begin investing in yourself today. Instead of coming a little rusty, you will be ready to add onto the already growing base of skill you have been accumulating.
Read one page of a book.
Play 5 minutes of wall ball.
Do 10 lunges.
Start small.
Begin today.
